Head of Documentation and Information Dissemination

You will develop a documentation centre with extensive data and field perspectives, and disseminate this information through various modes of communication.

Suitable for postgraduates in Social Development and/or Development Journalism.

Minimum of five years experience of collecting, analyzing and documenting complex data.

Proven documented report writing skills.

Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Hindi.

Sound knowledge of legal and political issues relating to gender studies.

Proven ability to manage staff.


Head of Campaigns and Advocacy

You will develop the campaign and advocacy skills of various focus groups, enabling them to act as pressure groups on authorities and policy makers. The position requires extensive field trips and travel.

Suitable for postgraduates in Political Science and/or Mass Communications.

Minimum 5 years experience in Advocacy and Policy Studies
A track record of success in organising mass movements with social action groups.

Detailed knowledge of government policy.


Research Officer

You will execute not only in-house research on development issues and problems but also research projects and studies commissioned by the Government and other agencies.

Suitable for professionals with a Masters degree in Social Sciences who have specialized in development studies and/or management.

5-7 years experience of managing research projects (ideally you will have published reports independently).

Sound understanding of different research methodologies.

Strong analytical and writing skills in English and Hindi.

Proven skills in managing staff.

Ability to set priorities and work to a deadline.


Research Assistants

Suitable for postgraduates in Social Sciences with a minimum of 5 years experience in the development sector.

Ability to collect, present and analyze complex primary and secondary data.

Sound understanding of different research methodologies.

Ability to assist in designing research tools.

Excellent analytical and writing skills in English and Hindi and a proven ability to present information in a concise, logical and easy to read format.

Ability to work independently, consulting as necessary and reporting back.

Ability to set priorities and work to a deadline.

Exposure to research-action projects an added advantage.


Field Investigators

Suitable for Bachelors (First Class and above) in Social Sciences with 2 years experience of conducting interviews, collecting data, and assisting in analysis and report compilation.

Willingness to undertake extensive travels even in adverse situations.

Strong communication skills (written and oral) in Hindi and English and a proven ability to present information in a concise, logical and easy to read format.

Ability to work independently without supervision, consulting as necessary, and reporting back.

An enthusiastic, lively team member, you are highly organised and comfortable with meeting deadlines.

Prayatn offers internships suitable for both Indian and foreign students of social work and development. These are ideal for volunteers looking for hands on experience working for an NGO.
